Review on Duex Portable IPS Monitor - 12.5" 1920x1080P 60Hz - Compatible with Laptops, Second Monitor, and more by Gary Rajan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good portable monitor, only Type-C input, no HDMI, no sound

This monitor is more versatile than other portable monitors. First thing I will say is that it is lighter but still quite heavy. The Mac screen clamps only seem to work well with this monitor, which is why the monitor sags backwards. Unfortunately, computers like Surface Book Loops don't hold this up very well. That being said, the monitor clip is still a bit clunky, but at least it stays on the monitor pretty well. There is a seal so you don't have to worry about the clip damaging your monitor. The clamping pressure will not interfere with or damage your monitor. You can use it to close some monitors, others not so much. It all depends on the model. One annoying thing is that you can't use this from a specific angle. It has to be a certain angle to really get the best view of a portable monitor. While you can use it on your knees, leaning forward can shift the weight of the monitor backwards. The controls are decent and the brightness isn't too bad. It's not exactly the same as the monitor as it's a bit dimmer even at maximum brightness. This may require a small adjustment to two screens with different brightness. Unfortunately, the monitor only has one type C output. There is no HDMI or sound on this monitor. The device comes with a Type-C to Type-C adapter with a Type-A adapter. The Type-A adapter allows you to connect the monitor to non-Type-C computers, but you must Install drivers and also use at least USB 3.0. USB 2.0 doesn't seem to work with it at all. However, you can install the monitor yourself. The problem is that the monitor stand doesn't really adjust. It's just an angle and that's it. The monitor is not touch sensitive. If you can hold the monitor with the laptop by the clip, it's good that you can pull out the screens. The only thing to note is that when you close it, the screen is actually facing up. So if you put it in your pocket without removing it, it may get scratched. It doesn't get hot, which is good. In general, this monitor is good, but it's too bulky. It's heavy, so most Ultrabook laptops can't really handle its weight, but for the most part it works great with MacBooks. The clip is too heavy for most laptops, so you have to hold it at a certain angle. It's good that you have a footrest, but you can't adjust the angle. The monitor also stands up all the time and is therefore prone to scratches. Even if you use USB A to input c, you need to install the drivers.
