Review on Legion Paper L21YUP197WH1114 Watercolor Polypropylene by Morgan Gilmore

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Absorbs pigment and makes it spectacular.

I heard about this paper on the internet while watching Mark Mahaffy's drawing tutorials and he used plastic paper which I had never heard of. I was interested in the demo and instructions and had to try it. When it arrived I was a little skeptical about how it would work for my art, but I gave it a try. So I drew a simple abstract using simple ink and ink pens. After the ink dried I found it difficult to find any of the colors faded or faded as I am used to with Archers heat pressed cotton paper and other brands, the colors remained bright and vibrant as if still wet. but absolutely dry to the touch! So far I love this paper, this is my favorite drawing paper, my only question is how the paint and ink layers hold up over time when you paint on plastic. Do they detach or wear out? No more than watercolor paper, or they don't care about dried paint and ink. I'm curious to try Yupo Transparency Paper and see what wonders I can create with it. I also want to try some sumi style ink painting to see how it works, might be fun! I look forward to continuing to work with this paper, as far as I can tell it holds the graphite pencil very well so I have to get my drawing pencils out too. There are so many things to try and not enough time in the day. I'm also posting a photo of my first experimental product here so you can see the effect.

Pros
  • It resists deformation in wet environments and can be wiped clean.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
