If you don't want or can't install a roof rack on your car then this might be a good choice. Solution. It's wide enough for our classic Grumman aluminum canoe, but not too wide for our Prius canopy. Installation is easy; The straps holding the foam blocks in place and a pair for your cargo are strong enough with spring-loaded metal buckles. Of course, there is one nuisance with this arrangement - excess straps hang inward, but this is insignificant. The T-Straps came in very handy, although I ended up using them on the hood and not the trunk. My only complaint is that they should have included a heavier line for the front and rear mounts. I would have preferred something with less stretch than that flimsy parachute line, especially when the canoe hit the trailer wake. Next time I will definitely use a stronger rope. We've only used it once so far, for a short interstate hop and then a two lane state highway; I confess until I was convinced that this is the best option for a long trip, but we'll see.
