No TVs! Check the guarantee!

I bought this item for my mother. She had just bought a new TV and needed a new surge protector to plug in her satellite equipment and electronics. After reviewing Revain and the positive reviews, we decided on this protector. After 5 months there was a power surge that disabled the protection and all devices connected to it. After going through Kensington's warranty process (requires patience, folks), we found that the only thing their "$35,000 Connectivity Hardware Limited Warranty" covers is the cost of the device itself and its DVD/DVR player. Luckily the satellite dish was replaced by their provider. THE KENSINGTON WARRANTY DOES NOT APPLY TO TVS (fine print of course) so do not purchase these screen protectors if you expect them to protect your TV or it is under warranty. I don't know if this practice is Kensington policy or common to all these surge protector/surge protector manufacturers, but it seems sneaky to exclude TVs from warranty coverage and not tell you TVs aren't covered anywhere other than in the fine print. . Actually the rep should have told us it was in the fine print. It took us some time to find this tidbit in the product warranty literature. Kensington agreed to refund her a total of $260. Their losses from the failure of this device amounted to approximately $1,100. Every device connected to this device was destroyed by a single power surge. Just like a starting point
