So I ordered binoculars a few weeks ago and paid over $200. I bought them because people made nonsense about the quality of the glass. And I found it true. but the binoculars were quite heavy at 1 1/4 pounds. and they were stiff and somewhat difficult to use. My wife has lost interest in using them. This prompted me to order this Nikon pair. who were of the same strength as the other pair. They were only about 10 ounces. HUGE difference! And the mechanics were a lot easier to work with than the other couple. My wife loves looking through these lenses. So far I have had both pairs. I did several side-by-side comparisons of glass. Find objects with detail in the distance and determine which lens shows the best detail. I've done this exercise several times, at different distances and in less light. The glass in this pair was the same as in the more expensive and heavier pair. I couldn't see any visual difference in quality. general. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because they come with eyecup covers. but without the possibility of attaching them to a (very cheap) collar. There are NO exit lens caps. It just seems like Nikon could have shelled out another 67 cents on parts. These lens caps will be lost. You CANNOT mount this binocular on a tripod. This would be a huge plus for photography through binoculars. All is said and done. not bad value.
