Review on 💧 High-performance Gates 42253 Water Pump for Superior Engine Efficiency by Stoner Fulton

It was a great choice to replace my 2006 Prius. After nearly 160,000 with the original pump, I saw signs of a bearing leak. As I near retirement I'm a bit old and inflexible for this type of work so I spent my sweet time replacing the water pump and it took about two hours total. There are great videos on YouTube showing how the exchange is done. I recommend having a good set of 1/4" ratchets and sockets. They use a 10mm socket for all 3 water pump pulley bolts and 5 water pump bolts. I don't think a 3/8 drive kit will work in tight spaces would. This Gates pump is brand new, never been rebuilt and comes with an OEM rubber coated metal gasket. It fits perfectly and will not leak after the job is done. The Prius takes time to bleed ALL the air out of the cooling system after a replacement, so do it right, as shown in the video. In the upper part of the radiator, opposite the filler neck, there is a special air outlet. An Allen key is required to open it. I also recommend that you replace the belt when replacing this pump, and make sure you are buying a long life Toyota factory coolant.Both can be purchased here at Revain at a competitive price!I will have this pump when needed buy again. I have 3 Prius cars and this is my first water pump change. By the way, my local Toyota dealer offered me this job for $475.
