I bought this Unirex device because I was looking for a card reader that, unlike most others, was specifically designed for Designed to store microSD cards without first installing standard SD card sized cards into the adapter. Not only does this reader do that, but it also works pretty well with card adapters. In addition, this device has two features that I have not seen in other MicroSD card readers. First, it's designed to allow the microSD card to be fully and firmly inserted into the device - just like microSD cards are inserted into standard SD card-sized adapters, protecting the microSD card from accidental drops and in turn protects , disconnect from the computing device to which it is connected. And second, the reader has both Type-A and Type-C USB ports, which means that after installing the MicroSD card, the reader can be plugged into almost any computer, USB hub, or other electronic device with USB ports can grant access to the map. (Sorry those of you with old phones and tablets or Apple phones, but this Unirex card reader doesn't have Micro USB or Lightning connectors.) Overall, I'm very happy with this Unirex MicroSD card reader. If I had only one gripe, it's that the microSD card reader slot doesn't have any of those button mechanisms - you know, those spring-loaded ones in some card readers that "snap" the inserted card and in turn require another hard push , so the card can be removed, and is instead a no-frills slot that the card simply slides into until it is "snug". But that's only a minor limitation, as this reader still grips the inserted microSD card and requires a strong pull (with your fingernail) to remove it. So if, like me, you've been looking for a quality card reader designed specifically for use with microSD cards, I highly recommend you give it a try. (By the way, this one comes with a Unirex microSD card, which is a nice bonus.) ADDITIONAL After trying this Unirex card reader for a while with the included 16GB microSD card, I decided to give it a go from 128 test - Gigabyte microSDXC card that I had on hand. Much to my surprise, the reader "threw" my card and I lost all the data on it. (Luckily, I'm a big believer in redundancy when it comes to backing up important data, so I still had multiple copies of my files on other storage devices.) Thinking it might have been an accident, I used a different card reader. 128GB microSDXC card and transfer some files to it and then I tried again to use this Unirex card reader to read the card in question. And once again the card was "cluttered" and had to be reformatted. So I suspect that this Unirex microSD card reader either can't handle high capacity microSDXC cards at all, or it can't handle them if they've been formatted with the exFAT file system (this is how my microSDXC card was formatted). This experience made me go back and downgrade the original rating of the Unirex device from five stars to three. And you should definitely keep that in mind when considering buying this card reader.
