We bought this set mainly for cooking outside, but I've used it at home too! A lot of people have mentioned using the kit to flatten and melt cheese on a hamburger, but I've found a few more uses for our home. I like medium rare steaks and my husband likes well done steaks. I left the dome over my husband's steak and left mine open (with the grill lid closed). I cooked both steaks for about 10 minutes and they both turned out perfect! You have to be careful though...the silicone/rubber on the handle keeps it from getting as hot as regular metal, but it gets too warm to lift when the dome is closed in the grille. And after the steaks were done, I covered both with a large dome to melt the butter. A cast-iron press is not only great for hamburgers, but also for hot sandwiches like grilled cheese. You can use it like a panny machine to bake both sides of a sandwich at the same time. Or your burgers, hot dogs, chicken, or veggies, if that's what you prefer. The domes feel solid and not flimsy at all. They can be easily cleaned and dried both by hand and in the dishwasher. It would be more of a set if both domes were the same rather than different shines and handles, but they look nice. I will definitely use these items again and again!
