When I bought a used truck a little over a year ago, the hood supports were in poor condition. SOMETIMES kept the hood. I carried a stick with me to support him, but because it wasn't long enough, I banged my head on the hood every time I opened it. I put them on hoping they would just hold the hood open but was very happy to see that they actually help lift the hood. All you have to do is release the safety latch and lift it up a bit. These shocks take over and do the rest. They were half the price of what I was able to get locally.
