I use them for mountain biking. Yes, they have a common design and other brands put their logos on it and sell it as their own, but do they work? Yes! At first they seemed strange to me, but I quickly got used to them. I started sweating right away, but I didn't notice any more heat or sweat while pedaling. As long as the straps line up properly with the Velcro, they're quite comfortable and not very noticeable. I haven't had a big crash yet, but I tested it by falling off my bike and landing my knee on the concrete, I had no pain. Of course, the consequences of a real accident are of great value, but I'm sure they will protect me. My only complaint is that the Velcro sections on the pads are too short, causing the straps to split about 5-6 inches. in the air. I don't know why this is when I have medium sized feet but I just sewed on more velcro and it worked! They look good and work well after adding some extra velcro so can't really complain, especially for the price. . I am happy with my purchase!
