You will need a larger pump

The pump works. That's the good part. First, the attached hose is too short. I have this to drain water from a tarp covering my pool. The tarp was only 4 inches from the railing, but when you lowered the tip of the device into the water, you ran out of hose. I had a long piece of transparent tubing, slightly smaller than what's attached, so I stuck it in. But it had to be sealed (lots of tape) to keep it from leaking. It pumped quite a bit of water initially, but it slows down when the batteries die, which happens very quickly. Batteries 2D lasted 4-5 hours. It's also awkward because you can't sit there for hours holding a stick, so I ran a long piece of string through the handle. First I tied him to a rock, but he slipped. Installing the brick on the cord also failed. Finally I tied him to a heavy wrought iron chair. The area is flooded so I found another piece of pipe and sealed it with tape as well. At that time we had rain, but not much. It took several weeks to drain all the water and 16 or 18 batteries. If you needed to drain something very small, a small fish pond, or need to dry out areas that drain too slowly, that would be enough, otherwise I'd go for something more vigorous. And if there is access to electricity at all, I would use it, not battery power.
