This Siemens FSCATV coax cable surge protector was purchased as insurance against possible future thunder and lightning storms as we had destroyed a cable modem and cable TV converter by lightning about a year ago during from a nearby thunderstorm, and I didn't want to endure that kind of damage again. There has only been one thunderstorm since installing this Siemens surge protector and so far everything is fine and there is no noticeable drop in signal strength. Installing the unit was easy and the block we received had the ends marked A and B so there was no mistaking which connection was the inlet (A) and which was the outlet (B). The unit was installed indoors as that was the only choice in our situation and one end of the included green ground wire was secured to an adjacent AC outlet panel with a round (ring) spade. The screw that secures the faceplate of the wall outlet has been removed and replaced with an unpainted screw to ensure good electrical contact. The ring lug and unpainted screw were purchased at a local hardware store. It would be useful if a putty solution was included with the product. At the moment I am rating this product a 5 and I hope it will protect our gear in the future.
