update: they were less than two months old and one just broke. He sat in the dishwasher before the wash cycle had even started. We turned on the garage user and heard a rattle. Dishwasher opened and it was broken. He just sat there and didn't collide with anything, so we have no idea what happened to him. Downgraded from five to three stars because they are touted as durable. Very disappointed. Original Rating: I love these glasses. I never thought I'd pay ten bucks for a tumbler, but it's worth it. Looking at them online I thought they would resemble the pint glasses I am replacing so I have provided a few photos to show how similar yet different they are. We immediately noticed that they are slightly shorter and slightly wider, but the glass is much thinner and the weight of the glass is just over half a pint. They are easier to grip and drink due to their lighter weight, and the wider base provides more security when putting the glass down. Both have a nice ring reflection effect at the bottom, but the Schott Zwiesel lenses show it more. In one photo I have (carefully) placed a pint in a new glass to better show the difference in proportions. In another I have stacked two new glasses and two pint glasses which really shows that the Schott Zwiesel glasses are more compactly stacked. However, I have no intention of ever stacking them on top of each other as the glass is very thin and they fit together in such a way that I suspect they might stick together. However, you can fold them up for storage and maybe put a piece of tissue paper or something inside to keep the jars separate. In one of the pictures the mark on the underside of the glass is clearly visible. The sign is subtle enough not to be intrusive and I think it looks very classy. On the scales, a pint glass weighs 417 grams, which is about 14.7 ounces, just under a pound. The Schott Zwiesel weighs 229 grams, just over 8 ounces or half a pound. For me the difference is very noticeable and pouring a drink into a new glass almost seems wrong, it's so light compared to what I'm used to from pint glasses. You may think they're plastic, they're so light. But one look tells you that it's not plastic at all, but very high-quality glass. Finally, I filled each glass to the top and poured into the measuring cup as carefully as possible. The photos are hard to make out, but you can see that the pint glass holds almost exactly one pint, 16 ounces, living up to its name. The Schott Zwiesel holds a pint plus a third of a cup, which is approximately 2.66 ounces. So I'd say with confidence that the rated 18.2 ounce capacity is pretty much worth the money. This is how they compare themselves to a pint glass. On the plus side, it's about as attractive as it gets for a glass that's so plain and doesn't have any engraving, cut or anything like that. The high quality of the glass is evident and should prove strong enough over time. Like my only good souvenir pint glass used in the photos, this glass should remain clear in the dishwasher unlike most of my other pint glasses which have become so cloudy that they had to be removed. They are pleasant to drink, they are light and stable. The only downside is that the thin glass is a little creepy. It's hard to shake the feeling that they might break, although they shouldn't with normal use. But there have been other comments about them breaking and I might be careful with them around the house if we had children or larger pets. However, I will tell you that I liked them so much when we got them that I turned around and bought a second box of six a few days later just so we could have enough fun around the house. A few words about packaging for transport. They come in the typical box that you buy glasses in, with a cardboard divider to separate the glasses. This box is placed in a large shipping box, with plenty of bubble wrap to ensure the inside of the box is well padded. If you receive them in package with other items, the whole package will be put in one big box with your other items. I know this because, to my initial dismay, they sent them to me in a box with a 40lb bag of kitty litter. The outer box was slightly damaged but the inner box was a little wrinkled and all the glasses were fine. The second package was just glasses in the inner and outer box but nothing else and they arrived well too. Hopefully any shipping issues mentioned in previous comments have been resolved and you can order them with the peace of mind that they will get you undamaged.
