I have been buying Self-control for many years and I sincerely do not understand the negative reviews about this product. That's great and let me explain why. I have nothing but lifeguards who all came with health issues to make up for my lack of sociability. A few years ago, one of them pretended that her yearly vaccinations were a terrible torture. Since this little demon has a broken vertebra, she shouldn't be wiggling and squirming while performing Taz's award-winning cartoon. Suddenly, it escaped the hands of the vet and two assistants, and I raised my hand to prevent it from falling off the edge of the exam table. She took advantage of that moment to fully penetrate the fleshy part of my arm below the index finger. She snarled like a cornered wildcat in old westerns and looked me straight in the eyes with obvious anger at me for letting the vet hurt her. As blood oozed from my arm, she gripped it tighter. I ended up having to gently shake her head up and down and back and forth to convince her to let me go. Needless to say, my hand hurt even more. Finally, after about an hour, after one last venomous glare, she let go of me and clearly said that I deserved what I got. Now I had another problem. She'll need those shots again next year, and that's where self-control comes in. The next year I gave her rest 30 minutes before our meeting and she lay without a whimper while the vet checked on her. from head to short tail, including her defective spine, tiny ears with very hard cartilage, blue eyes, mouth with razor-sharp teeth, and took her temperature before giving her two shots of the vaccine. If I had learned self-control a year earlier, I would have gotten rid of those six weeks of pain before my arm finally healed. So all I can tell you is that it works, and it works great. I've used it several times on five cats and experienced the same "relaxation" response.
