Edit: 3/18/2017: I've had constant problems with this hotspot for the past year or so. I was able to reduce the notches by switching to a channel that didn't have as much competition from neighbors (which seems to be the reason this product was banned) but as of yesterday the product is dead. A year and two months after that Purchase. The woman came home and asked if the WiFi was working. As usual "let me check the Linksys" as it crashes frequently. I looked at him in the hallway and there was no light. I threw it away, tried it on a different PoE port. Nothing. This thing is completely dead, probably just out of warranty, and even if it were still under warranty it wouldn't be worth fixing. We look forward to finding something better and learning from Linksys. Avoid. Edit 4/20/16: It's been stable for a few weeks now, which is good. Edit 04/07/16: All you have to do is unplug this device from the ceiling, unplug it, plug it back in and wait for the wireless clients to come back on service. At that amount, I wouldn't put up with it. Since everything started working again after restarting the hotspot, the fault clearly lies with the hotspot and not the three devices that were having trouble connecting to the network. Seriously frustrating. Old review: Installed N600 at home yesterday and so far I like it. We have a standard ranch style one story home and need WiFi from a corner of the garage to the back of the master bedroom. I had a router/access point combo installed on the ceiling in the middle of the house, but being a home device it wasn't strong enough to get into the garage and the signal in the living room and patio was weaker than we wanted. We tried adding a second hotspot near the garage, but found that mobile devices typically retained the weak (and ultimately unusable) signal from the hotspot they were originally connected to, rather than switching to the stronger hotspot. Therefore this solution is not suitable. It is great. I bought a LAPN600 and a PoE injector with the plan to install it in a central hallway about 15 feet from the old router/access point combo, but when I put the LAPN600 in the exact same spot as the old device (ethernet already there for testing) the signal reached the entire object. The customer reports that the signal is "low" in the garage, but he can transmit video and audio very well. Before, I couldn't even get a DHCP lease. I still used PoE so I didn't have to climb to the attic and install a power supply, and I absolutely love how easy it was to set up and how well it works (not to mention how clean and good looking it is). We have 4 SSIDs; two for us and two guest networks, one each on 2.4 and 5 GHz radios. Simple, efficient and attractive module. A white block on a white ceiling, no one will ever notice unless you see how well our WiFi works. A small note: the block is a bit larger than you think, so pay attention to the dimensions. It's about 9 inches point to point, but if you're looking at typical housewares you can assume it's about 6 inches point to point from the photos and there's nothing to compare it to.
