Sizing isn't always right

I've been keeping an eye on the sizes for my dog breeds (one boxer/mastiff mix, the other mini schnauzer). The big one went well with the big dog after being adjusted. Small, however, did not suit the Schnauzer very well. He was able to get the nose piece off his face even when it was set to the minimum. As for efficiency. Neither dog liked it at first. The big dog found out pretty quickly that the beak wasn't tight as long as it didn't pull. Small dog. Pooh. he is a bit stubborn. a little more provocative. and learn a little slower. He did a good thing for a while, then he started struggling and stopped abruptly, took a little turn and voila! Its beak was free. We've done this several times. during the (short) walk. I love that the nose piece tightens when they pull and loosens when they stop pulling. Cause and Effect is a great learning tool for humans AND pets. We're working on it. Still. If you have a dog that weighs around 15 pounds, it's best to choose an XS over a small. I didn't measure and probably should have. Learn from my mistake. I can still order an XS and just keep the S for another dog.
