When I bought this I had a bunch of ghost shrimp. Small ones were constantly hiding in these tubes. I pointed it towards the front of the tank so I can look in and see the shrimp. It's pretty funny to see them going in and out. The larger shrimp didn't mind and were the only ones who got stuck for a few minutes. My only complaint is that these tubes are oddly polished and may need a grind. The feel against human skin creates a lot of friction and worried me when some fish rubbed against it thinking they might lose some of the scales. Overall, this is a good addition for medium sized aquariums with vortices. I recommend.
