I have been an electrical engineer for many years and all of these test results are based on my own opinion. The package does not include mounting tabs or screws. You need to use your own screws or if you want to install it you need to find mounting tabs in store. The Stanley 31610 SurgeMax Pro power strip has nine overload-protected sockets right at your workplace. I use this extra long extension behind a set of shelves that hold power tools and assorted drill batteries. This ensures sufficient distance between the outlets. I love everything about this expansion. It is actually rated at 400 joules. This made it much easier and more convenient than tying extensions all over the floor. They have a metal body, are well made and easy to assemble in a number of ways and have an illuminated main switch. The distance between the sockets is ideal for battery chargers. It works with transformer plugs without overloading adjacent outlets. Designed to save energy, the Stanley splitter is intended solely for use with office components such as desktop computers, monitors, printers and table lamps that consume power when not in use. It should not be used with power tools, heaters, coffee makers or other household appliances. It supplies standard 125V electronic equipment through 9 outlets, the outlets are spaced 2" and 10/16" center-to-center along the 37" chassis, providing ample room for most AC adapters and transformers. There's really no reason not to buy a surge protector. Whether you just want to add more outlets or add a layer of protection between your devices and the outside world, you're going to want to buy a surge protector at some point. You will need more and more outlets. You'll no doubt add more gear without necessarily getting rid of your current gear. I'm not saying that if you think you need 9 outlets, buy 12 outlets is probably a good investment. I also have a 12 outlet power strip for my garage. For office and school I would recommend the AXTRA power strip with 12 sockets. There's really no reason not to buy a surge protector.
