Review on Soundcore Cancelling Wireless Charging Sleeping by Chris Endricko

I wanted to love them but just couldn't get them to work

Anker has held me in high esteem over the years (to date I have Soundcore Life 2, Life Q20, Spirit X, Curve and countless cables :D) and I want to love these headphones so much. They have so many promises and so many features, but the sum of it all just doesn't suit me. First, they look great - as soon as I bought them (my first set of wireless headphones) people in my office started asking me what they were. because they looked very sharp. When I sit down at my desk and use both of these units they block out outside noise really well which is why I bought them (I work in a converted warehouse and the HVAC system and industrial fridges we have make a lot of noise) . . loops, disturbing noise). ANC is pretty reliable for my needs and the audio quality of the podcasts I listen to seem really good. However, problems arise when I'm not using them in this ideal scenario (seated, both earbuds). When I have an earbud the touch controls don't seem to work and I have to try multiple times to register the command if it works at all. That might be a bit of a nitpick, as I'm not sure how many people go into "mono" mode, but since it's a big part of my day, it can make the headphones almost useless for me. In the same way, I love the app (Android) but hate the widget - when I switch listening modes it never says the headphones are plugged in, even when they're in my ear and playing music. This defeats the purpose of using the widget as I then have to unlock the phone and do it through the app. Now I wouldn't have to do it through the app anymore. whether the touch controls worked properly when I had an earbud. It's a disappointment cycle! Finally, the biggest issue for me is that the earbud just doesn't stay on all the time. especially when I'm running. I've tried some of the earbuds that came with it, and while I get good hearing pressure, I feel like a bud pops out of my ear as I walk. I'm panicking that it will fall and hit the office's stamped concrete floor and I will lose the money I paid for it. If Anker made their over-the-ear version of the Spirit X, that might be a better choice for me. For now, due to the frustrations mentioned above, they were only used for home use for my wife and I when we're not active and able to use both earbuds.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Easily repairable
