Review on πŸ’Ύ SilverStone RL-FS212B Hot-Swapable Hard Drive Enclosure by Phillip Reed

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Problems may occur with certain types of discs.

I have 8 500GB Seagate thin drives, a pair of Crucial 512GB SSDs, an Intel 120GB SSD and a SanDisk 120GB SSD with no problems at this time. However, when I install a Kingston Hyper-X 120GB SSD in a bay, that bay glows purple like the drive is constantly being accessed even before POST is complete. The drives appear to be working fine, but any VMs loaded onto the Kingston Hyper-X drives are slowly degrading as corrupted data is written to the drive through this bay. The same drives seem to work fine when plugged directly into the Intel host's SATA ports. A strange issue and I suspect it is specific to the SSDs mentioned in combination with this drive bay. What to consider when testing. Drive bays should not glow solid purple without the drive in the bay actually being accessed. In any case, testing will continue.
