As a cheap radio it has some nice features: AM/FM plus a reasonable range for the few remaining shortwave stations. Love the retro packaging and the design of the tuning and volume controls (offset screw knobs). Where this setup disappoints is in the design of the AGC circuitry and synchronous detection, which struggle with poor signal reception. The radio wants to lock onto a strong local signal and redirect polling from the DX station you are trying to connect to. The AGC then kicks in and reduces the gain, causing the signal to fall off the cliff. The rechargeable lithium-ion battery is a great feature, and unlike most radios, it's easy to remove and replace when the time is right. Verdict: Suitable for occasional listening to a local AM/FM station; no radio for DX lovers.
