Review on ๐Ÿ’ป Optimized Samson LTS50 Laptop Stand (SALTS50) by David Stover

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect laptop stand *after you tighten all the screws*. It's *mandatory*

Reviews of this laptop stand are *everywhere*. Just got mine and thought I'd fix a few things: The picture in the listing showing it being 47 inches at maximum extension when the tray is flat is correct. Note that this is one inch less than 4 feet. The product's textual description of being dropped from a height of 4.5 feet is incorrect. (Well, if you tilt the tray so it's perfectly vertical, it's 4.5ft tall, but it's also clearly useless.) - For reviewers saying the center clamp is loose and the entire top slides down , yes, mine came that way too. Luckily, this is a very common type of clamp with an easily accessible screw that regulates tightness. The way this type of clamp always works is by design. (Clamps of this type tend to ship slightly loose so nobody will damage them by trying to overtighten.) So just tighten the screw a few turns while the clamp is open and the problem is 100% % solved. it's just an extra security mechanism. An ugly carpet stinks upstairs. oh boy it is It smells like tar pits. It's also so ridiculously sticky that it felt like my laptop was glued to the stand almost permanently. Seriously, it's more like permanent glue than a grippy mat. Do yourself a favor and throw it away. Laptops usually have rubber feet. Or, if you need a laptop stand with a grippy tray, don't buy that stand, or buy a roll of grippy rubber and attach it yourself. Finally, on stability/shakiness: YOU CAN FIX IT! My original review said yes, the top speaker and tablet are indeed shaky so you can't use them for heavy typing. But then I tightened the clamp *even tighter* and then tightened the screws that attach the tray to the bracket. and now it's unshakable! So what's the bottom line? For the price, this is a great option if you need a stand for your laptop that's primarily used *for viewing*. I bought this for seated eye-level video conferencing (so my webcam doesn't always have to be pointed under my chin) and it's great for that. (Other laptop/projector stands weren't high enough.) I imagine this would work well for a DJ or anyone who only occasionally selects tracks, presses buttons, etc. And even better in either case if you have a Bluetooth Have keyboard/mouse on a lower level on a nearby table. But if you plan on typing on it a lot, use it as a standing desk or something - I mean, you *could*. But it's terrible ergonomics for a standing desk anyway, because even though it fits your hands (I'm 6ft 1in and full extension is a bit taller), you'll be constantly craning your neck toward the desk. screen, which would be terrible. Hope this helps others trying to solve it.
