UPDATE 2/28/2020 I really wanted to keep this case but couldn't find the support I needed. No success. I replaced that with "OWC Mercury Elite Pro Quad RAID Ready (JBOD) 4-Bay Storage Cabinet". will not hibernate HD. She confirmed that since the device was built as a RAID device, the device will continue polling it for activity as long as the host operating system doesn't disconnect the drives. After 3 days of continuous use I can confirm that. I need a JBOD package that I can use out of the box for animation rendering, quick access to music, files, etc. I really wish Orico would read this review and give clear instructions on HOW to set this up with their product, or at least reply to their emails. --------- First of all, be careful when buying. Many images are attached to the Orico listing but they represent DIFFERENT models. I didn't need a RAID box, just a simpler JBOD. Confirm your needs with the right image! This replaces a 6 year old Silverstone/Teratrend JBOD that suddenly died (RIP). In comparison, this Orico JBOD box is a bit shorter but just as quiet and sits on my desk about 3 feet from where I was seated. My drives moved to the new enclosure and were recognized by my operating system with no issues. I've encountered an HD sleep issue that appears to be a 'feature' of this drive. As I am using this JBOD to render motion graphics/visual effects, it may take up to 15-20 minutes to process a single rendered frame. I can't get the drives to sleep at all. Since I'm using a Mac, I used these two things to disable the sleep feature: 1. In the terminal, type: sudo pmset -c spindown 0 This causes the OS to bypass any sleep settings in Preferences. Orico may have a patch to disable the firmware but I haven't contacted them yet. 2. Search the Apple Store for the free Amphetamine app. This application can prevent your drives from going to sleep on a schedule. Mine is set to poll my drives every 9 minutes. I've been using this JBOD case for about a week now with no problems. I also had to attach black tape with holes to cover the blue LEDs on the front of the case; I have a pack of LightDim stickers somewhere, I'll have to look for them. But so far the case works without problems. how one!
