Review on 🍍 Enhanced OXO Good Grips Pineapple Corer and Slicer by Sheila Hill

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Size matters! for tools for fruit and vegetables

I often cut pineapples. This tool is great. But you should know what size pineapple your grocer (or other source) typically sells. There are different varieties of pineapples, some of which are smaller and thinner while others are larger and firmer pineapples. If your source is smaller and thin, measuring less than 5 inches at its widest point, you'll likely find that this brand of OXO slicers is the perfect fit for your needs. However, if, like me, you have a source that imports larger, firmer pineapples (Costco in my case), which tend to be wider and easily reach 5-6 inches, you'll find that the base of this slicer (around 3-1 /2 inches) isn't wide enough and you end up having to cut a lot more yourself to remove a lot of the good pineapple flesh surrounding the pineapple walls. My original slicer was a wider range (with a base of at least 4 inches or better). Unfortunately I don't remember the brand (I bought it years ago) and recently (after a few years of use) threw it away when it finally broke. there is a size difference. I thought the OXO would be an easy replacement at a good price (the picture didn't look much different than my original slicer), but unfortunately for my purposes (wide pineapple) it's not perfect. I bought the original from my local grocer so I'll probably be on the lookout for another brand that fits the bill! Hope that helps!
