Buy two of these instead of a combo KVM and switch inputs on the monitor. It doesn't matter that it can save you hundreds of dollars, the most important thing is that it works reliably and predictably. Reasons to get it: - Mechanical buttons give instant feedback on which input is selected, even by touch. - Mechanical KVM do not have LED indicators - they are either USB powered to control them or require a separate power supply. Leech also doesn't work when devices are powered off or booted up. - NO built-in USB hub - which means even dumb bootloaders will find your keyboard or mouse because all they see is a directly connected device. (and hot plugging is a well understood and solved problem) - use standard original USB cables - no weird KVM cables Extras - skipping the video switch works better. - Connected computers always see the monitor, during boot (critical) and while in use. no hotplugs and no recalculation of resolution or desktop behavior. I stacked two of them on top of each other, the top one is for the keyboard, the bottom one is for the mouse. I mainly use them to switch between two fixed systems, but sometimes I switch to a third. for the third one i have a thin hdmi cable + keyboard + mouse cable with markings. I think color coded USB cables would be helpful.
