The unit has worked well so far and I even brought a different collar/receiver for an old lazy Bullmastiff which I didn't initially feel was necessary . Of course, they have learned to use it perfectly. However, I have three minor complaints. 1. This is the biggest complaint: the recipient cannot turn off the warning. While many dogs respond well to a warning tone, I found that dogs do well without it when training for the Invisible Fence brand many years ago. I think some dogs are better off associating the correction with a specific point or line than with a sound coming from an object on their neck. Some dogs will also see this as an opportunity to test how far they can go. For people with more space, it's best to just let the dog stay a safe distance from the correction zone.2. Small plastic flags are short and very inconvenient to place. Flags in the form of a wire can simply be "thrown” into the ground from a standing position. This becomes even more important when you are marking an acre or more.3. Wire gauge in super thin. Radio frequency obviously doesn't require a large diameter to transmit, but larger diameter wire is much stronger and more resistant to cuts, tears, or even being chewed up by ground pests. With all that, I bought it even though it worked. for an invisible fence for many years. However, training is an extremely important part of using a wireless fence. If you're not sure you can understand your dog's opinion of what's going on in their yard, consider hiring a professional company with people who can really help you through the process. I have trained many owners and dogs who have been frustrated with the homemade fence and need help. Assistance, including repairing the damage done to their dogs by lack of training.
