I'm building a retro DOS/Windows 98/2K PC with a NOS slot I 440EX MATX motherboard. The built-in USB version of the motherboard from almost a quarter-century ago is just a slow version 1.0, and yet there are no connectors on the board. Using a PCI USB card works, but one slot on the card is not enough for the USB 2.0 devices I have. Four devices; two USB ports on the front of the case and a CF/SD/USB memory card reader in the 3.5 bay. I was thinking of buying an external USB hub and somehow powering it from the MOLEX connector. Then I found this. No electricity and perfect for my needs. In fact, I only needed half the card, so I disassembled it and pulled out the cable. The double-sided 3M tape is incredibly sticky and keeps the device securely in place. It works fine in Windows 98 SE and 2000. My only gripe is that there is no USB Type-A connector in the box as most internal PCI cards have it as a connector instead of IDC connectors. But for the price, that's understandable and certainly not worth a star. I'm very happy with it and look forward to never looking at it again once I get the cables right.
