Review on 5x4 inch Automotive Engine Block Heater Pad with 3M Self Adhesive, Thermostatic Control, Battery Heater, Engine Oil Pan Heater Pad, 2-Prong Plug, Silicone Sealer included by Adrian Summers

I installed this on my VW jetta tdi sump because I had problems with the battery not starting the car! I installed this and agreed that the engine doesn't get hot or anything, but it does keep temperatures well above ambient that the car can start at around -30F (which is the lowest I've seen ). It also heats up the engine bay a little, which also prevents the battery from freezing. I won't say there aren't other pads that heat up better, but this one does the job. A bit disappointed that I didn't receive the silicone in the photos as it would have made me a little more confident with the wand. pad, but so far the pad has held up itself through mud and water.
