Review on ๐Ÿšฝ 12V RV Macerator Pump - SewerFlo Quick Release, 12GPM by Justin Gore

Good for occasional use.

March 17, 2018 Not fast but emptied my 3 tanks from RV. The volume of each tank is 54 gallons. The drain is 1" diameter hose, so I added a short length of 1" diameter clear hose and fittings for attaching a standard garden hose. (see photo) This transparent tube is useful for seeing what is coming out of the pump. I also had a clear 3 inch sewage connection between the pump and the connection point on my RV. This tap also came in handy to see what was going into the pump and what the flow was like. I used a 100ft garden hose (50ft 5/8" and 50ft 3/4") and hose uphill 3ft to the discharge point. The flow was good for this pump size. My RV's sewage drain has a 3-valve that my hose connects to. This valve came in handy when the tanks were empty and it was time to flush the macerator pump and garden hoses. I turned on the water supply to the macerator pump inlet and shut off the 3 inch meter the pump was connected to. This made it so that fresh water went straight to the macerator pump suction and worked well for cleaning and flushing both the pump and garden hose. No smell when rinsing with water. I removed the pump head to see and inspect The gasket that seals the pump and inlet housing is nothing but paper which I expected The material will be rubber. or any plastic material. The pad of paper was soaked and I even noticed that a few drops came out when the pump was running. So for a whole month I relied on this macerator pump to drain the tanks. As I said, it's not a speed daemon, but it worked very well. A lesson I've learned from frequent use is that tanks drain better and the pump is less likely to run dry when two crisp 90 degree bends are used close together (see photo). As the flow begins to narrow as the tank is emptied, the small flow does not flood the suction side of the pump well when the pump is installed at the same level as the discharge port. By adding two 90 degree elbows, the pump is lowered in relation to the waste water outlet and the pump works better to eliminate the low flow at the end of the process.

Pros
  • Ability to drop long distances
Cons
  • There are nuances
