There were 2 lids in the kit, one broke in transit. The functional lid fits perfectly with the matching waste bin (sold separately here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08PDQN7R9). The design features 2 valves that open when you press them and lock themselves. This trash can lid has a few pros and cons: PRO'S1. Keeps dirt covered 2. Easy to open and close. If you have dirty hands from cooking, it's easy to jab them with your knuckles or elbows to open and blunt any dirty residue.3. Easy to clean. We only use Clorox wipes. CONS1. Sometimes the shock "hangs" in the down position. You can't always count on it to work itself out.2. Flaps can get dirty/dirty. Of course, if you have something dirty to dispose of and you don't open the valves before you throw it in the trash, all the valves will get it and need to be cleaned. A regular Clorox wipe works well.
