when activated with water it becomes creamy and smooth to work with, no bad or strong smell. Not as opaque as wax paint but a great base. Since it's a darker color, you should get nice lines as long as you maintain a creamy and thick consistency. Very little water is required for activation. One or two sprays are enough to activate. I like this brand of paint - American made and truly the safest I've ever seen. Unlike many brands, you can use ALL colors on the eyes (on the eyelid, not the waterline) and on the lips, even red and blue. Rinses off easily - I've never had a problem with stains, even red or blue. I haven't tried green yet. I still prefer DFX white for line art. but i like it for everything else. I have made split cakes with several of their colors and the results are stunning and beautiful.
