I bought this DVR to replace my 8 year old LTS 2304SE. I wasn't expecting to get better hardware given the price was so low (and in fact it's built much thinner and looks cheaper), but at least I was expecting more up-to-date software. Instead, I have an almost non-working proprietary iPhone app, but more importantly, the remote connection is through third-party servers! Basically, you pay for and install the Trojan yourself on your home network. Instead of sitting still, this thing will immediately try to make some weird (non-http on port 80, non-https on 443) connections to servers in London, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Beijing, California. Of course, all of this is an attempt to discourage you from setting up your firewall properly. Unlike my old box, they don't give you root (or any other) access to the OS. While this is what you would expect when buying an iPhone for example - they make it clear you don't have the software so you have to trust Apple and your phone service provider, Zosi is not a service provider and I have no reason or intention to trust them with my network. Thanks but no!
