3 years in a row we have purchased this exact item to function as a pool cover for the bigger size kiddie pool (5ft around). IT. IS. PERFECT! I feel bad not reviewing for this purpose sooner. It keeps the bugs and debris out so the water can be used day to day. We have a hand held pool skimmer that we also use to keep the water free of gunk. We also have a little pool float that holds a mini chlorine tab in it that sits in the pool when no one is playing in it. And we have THIS! You don’t NEED the other items but add them to this "cover” and it puts your kiddie pool on a whole new level! We save on water usage by not having to dump and refill. The kid splashes enough that with these other measures we just have to top the pool off rather than dump and refill. (Tip: if the pool DOES get scummy, take a broom, put a little water and a couple drops of blue dawn in the pool then "sweep” the bottom of the pool. The broom will scrub that stuff up in no time. Rinse it all off and you have a fresh pool AND broom!) Another pro (or con) is that it keeps the water warm so our little doesn’t get too much of a shock when he jumps in fully clothed at 7:00 am. Because it’s not designed for this purpose it only has about a year life span although my cheap a$$ did drag almost two seasons out of the first one by cleaning it frequently and storing it etc. easier just to buy a new one each season and repurpose the old retired one. Creativity will get you far there! Rain water will collect and weigh it down. Especially if the pool is not full. We put a larger bouncy ball in the pool under the cover to kind of "tent” it so rain water runs off rather than collects. Doesn’t always work out like we hoped. A few times the rain caused it to collapse into the pool and drug all the gross stuff with it but the once in a while issue is well worth the reprieve from battling a nasty scummy pool on a daily basis. HAVE bought repeatedly, will buy again!
