This is my second soap cutter that I've been really looking for. The other two I received were cheap wood with little to no finish. One was just a router and the other was a router/planer/beveler. Just didn't work for me. It was easy to assemble, 6 bolts/nuts and a Phillips head screwdriver. I like seeing the whole loaf of soap, it's adjustable and the front cutting edges are higher so I can aim my knife over the credit and get a smoother cut of the soap. The wooden ones were under the soap head and could never get my knife in the slots so I kept guessing how to cut the soap and they were all misaligned or at an angle. This cutter works much better. I cut 2 soaps today and they turned out very well compared to my others. I'm glad it doesn't have a slicer as the previous ones don't cut properly, I just use a potato peeler which works great. Would definitely recommend if you are new to lathering and it seems very durable.
