Review on BTECH Mini UV 25X2 Mobile Radio by Carlos Long

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Pleasantly surprised. But wait, the continuation of the story?

Pros: Very good facility, especially at this price. Very easy mic programming with excellent but limited YouTube tutorials on the BTech channel. The UV-25X2 radio has valid FCC certification, which is not the case with radios from many manufacturers. I get complete silence on repeaters and good audio reports on both repeaters and simplexes. Disadvantages: additional cable for programming! The handles are made of soft rubber and fall off easily. Silly hello/goodbye sounds when powering on/off. The speaker/microphone/PTT pinout is non-standard for unknown reasons. Also, the 3.5mm jack on the rear panel requires a small diameter "low profile" TRRS connector. Grrrr! By BTech? The scan function is a bit buggy. Seems capable of out-of-band Tx. Terrible idea! Most radio amateurs won't have a problem, but it's just trouble for caps and bootleggers. BTech is trying to get rid of the Baofeng stigma and this will likely be their downfall. All in all very well done! off, then on, then off. Very dark screen, barely visible, no sound. After spending a pleasant but unproductive half hour with Revain tech support, no luck. Yes I have the correct voltage, yes the fuse is ok, yes I know where the power switch is etc. I will contact BTech and see what they can offer in terms of assistance. Let's see, maybe I need to revise my review. Up or Down Upgrade Update: My unit was repaired/replaced (no serial number noted) and shipped back to me the same day they received it. No issues so I would definitely give B Tech customer service 5 stars. It's been working fine for a few weeks now. My overall rating has increased to 4.56 out of 5 stars.
