Significantly improved over KT-8900 - worth the extra cost $

Bought a QYT KT-8900D and found myself having to deal with firmware issues like resetting the C and D channel displays to defaults couldn't live with a malfunction. This and other problems have been solved with the BTECH UV-25X2. I returned the KT-8900 and have never looked back. The radio works as expected, there are instructions in English. I have not experienced desensitization in my semi-rural location. Using a mag mount antenna (Browning WSPBR10353 5/8 NMO Mount Magnet + TRAM 140MHz-170MHz

Pros
  • Good product for its price
Cons

Great Radio - CB and Two Way Radios

Initial Positive Feedback. It is small and easy to install in a small car. The sound is pretty loud. It delivers full power (25W) as expected. The microphone is of typical Chinese quality and can only be retrofitted (the transmitted sound sounds like speaking through a paper towel tube). Consumes a maximum of 8 amps. The screen isn't as bright as we'd like, but there's a setting to tweak it. Unfortunately, no programming cable is included. Be sure to order! Someone asked about the fan. It turns

SALMOST mobile ham radio

I bought the radio to replace another HF/VHF mobile radio. This radio actually works as advertised with the exception of one feature which is REQUIRED for a mobile ham radio. The display is practically invisible in daylight and the display brightness cannot be adjusted. Also, the PTT button volume is so loud it hurts, but the only way to control it is to turn off the beep. My experience with the radio in my car was that I can see absolutely NO detail on the display while driving because I…

Great mobile for the money. Easy to install and remove.

For the price, this unit is hard to beat. It's small enough to fit in any glove box for safe (out of sight) storage. All my signal reports are positive. I highly recommend purchasing the Nagoya programming cable and antenna listed in the product description. Remember that a good antenna is perhaps the most important part of any wireless system. One thing I haven't tested is the actual range of this device. I will probably do that when I have the opportunity to go to the country again. I've used

Pros
  • Durable test results
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Compact 2M/440MHz Txcvr

Seems to be a good compact setup suitable for mobile, EmComm and public operations. Programming is very easy with RT Systems software and there are no problems. The 4 channel display and easy scrolling between them is probably handy for some public services where both repeaters and simplex are used. This device gets hot at Tx; the fan runs pretty fast. Therefore, you need decent airflow. I live in an urban area where there are a lot of opportunities for intermods. On 2M I had no issues during…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

There are some good reviews that I won't repeat. My conclusion is the following. overall very impressed. I LOVE that you can fully customize all the background and text colors on the screen. If you are partially color blind, this is a blessing. Next, I like the size. It's extremely compact and I was happy to see that it has a fan. Some of the cheaper Chinese radios don't do this. It makes me more comfortable to use it for a long time. You can enter frequencies directly from the keypad on the…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Nothing here

Note that there is parasitic current draw even when the device is off. That's 17 mA, which drains a car battery in a few days. In my case I have a radio in a UTV with a 12Ah battery. After about 5 or 6 days the battery is so discharged that the device no longer starts. If left longer, the battery will be completely destroyed, down to 0 volts. This is so low that most chargers will not start charging. Then you need to charge the battery (even a flashlight battery will do) until the charger turns

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging

Pleasantly surprised. But wait, the continuation of the story?

Pros: Very good facility, especially at this price. Very easy mic programming with excellent but limited YouTube tutorials on the BTech channel. The UV-25X2 radio has valid FCC certification, which is not the case with radios from many manufacturers. I get complete silence on repeaters and good audio reports on both repeaters and simplexes. Disadvantages: additional cable for programming! The handles are made of soft rubber and fall off easily. Silly hello/goodbye sounds when powering on/off…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
