Review on BTECH Mini UV 25X2 Mobile Radio by Frankie Wesley

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Compact 2M/440MHz Txcvr

Seems to be a good compact setup suitable for mobile, EmComm and public operations. Programming is very easy with RT Systems software and there are no problems. The 4 channel display and easy scrolling between them is probably handy for some public services where both repeaters and simplex are used. This device gets hot at Tx; the fan runs pretty fast. Therefore, you need decent airflow. I live in an urban area where there are a lot of opportunities for intermods. On 2M I had no issues during my testing session; at 440MHz, where I had more problems with intermodulation, the jury is still out. My first impression is that this device is less vulnerable than other settings I've used; but further testing is needed. I "solved" my problem with 2 commercial Motorola radios programmed on the 2M and 440MHz amateur bands. Reviews of the Tx's sound quality were very good during the short test session I had. Both the Rx sound quality and the volume are quite sufficient. Haven't tried the headphone output yet, but expect it to be handy when working, when there's noise or other activity that might be distracting. I suspect this device will run pretty well on a 12V DC LiFeO battery. I hope this review is helpful to you. your decision-making process.
