I was excited to try these binoculars based on their size and many good reviews. At the same time, I ordered the Wingspan Willow Ultra HD model to choose between them. I will be returning the Spectator model. They are good for the price but don't compare to the larger and heavier Willow model. They're almost equally priced, but I suspect the Willows were originally more expensive, so it's probably not a valid comparison. In general, I was happy with the Spectator, except for the focusing mechanism. He suffers from a terrible wand. It's a type of friction that keeps solid surfaces from moving. Therefore, when you start turning the focus knob, you have to overcome friction before it starts turning. This makes it impossible to fine-tune the focus. It will jump past the focus point and then return if you turn the other way. It broke the deal for me! This is a really big deal, especially since these binoculars focus pretty quickly with 1 1/4 turns of the focus knob. I hope this is an isolated case as I don't see any mention of it otherwise. I really wanted to like these binoculars because of the size and if it hadn't suffered from sticking and the Willow model wasn't the same price I might have kept them. In addition, the target caps are nearly impossible to dislodge and remove. You have to mess with them too much to seal them. From the reviews I've read here, it seems that quality is an issue from device to device.
