We used this sleeping bag when we took our little one camping in April. At night it got cold up to 40 degrees, and it was still warm! I bought it because it meets the American Pediatric Association's guidelines for safe sleep. We put the baby on his back in a sleep-proof wrap and play with no hat or anything hanging around. I wouldn't advise adding anything else to the crib if your baby is in a sleeping bag because it can overheat. We took a thinner sleeping bag with us on the trip in case it didn't get cold at night. The fabric around the neck is very soft and cozy, the zipper opens from the face, there are mittens. The arms were a little long, but we'll be using a lot! It comes with a storage bag that compresses the sleeping bag so it doesn't take up much space.
