How to trim cat nails

So I decided to try this because I have two cats who like to bleed when I clip their claws or give them a bath. One size screamed my name because I have an 8lb Russian Blue and a 20lb Orange Tabby. The first test was an orange tabby. He was sitting on my lap and the bag was within easy reach. I put it around his neck (by the way, the neck was stretched, but not tightened). light enough. But by that time he had already been MARKED! After a struggle where I got the upper hand because I had a handle on my bag, I realized that one size does NOT fit all. The bag didn't cover his hind legs (which are deadly any day). So I grabbed a blanket from the back of the couch and wrapped it around his back legs. With a few maneuvers on his part, he was able to stuff this vomit into the bag and free his hind legs again. All the while its fangs were free and digging into my hand. Another toss was received from the back of the couch and wrapped around his hind legs. The fangs still worked. He managed to get his front claws caught in the mesh and it took me a few minutes to untangle them and trim his claws. He let go of my hand briefly to howl in disgust, then bit me somewhere else. He ended up getting his nails trimmed and it took me 15 minutes to untangle the mesh bag, two tosses and his fangs. , my Russian blue was nowhere to be found. (Found later behind the kitchen sink when I was ready for bed.) I only needed three bandages.
