We've had the FoodSaver vacuum sealer for more years than I can remember and it still works, but I took the opportunity to try this Anova model to test anyway. If you're familiar with vacuum sealers, this sealer works pretty much like any others you've used and comes with three preset buttons to make things easier. brisket, etc.) and everything worked as expected. I then cut my own pouches from a roll I bought from Cabelas many years ago and they sealed perfectly. What I want to say is that it is great for vacuum packing food or other items in plastic bags. In terms of quality it feels light but is well built and able to get the job done. I reckon it sealed pouches just as well as my old FoodSaver. If you think about it, the functions it performs (sealing one end of the bag, sucking air out of the other end of the bag) are pretty simple. Almost any vacuum sealer is suitable for this. If I were really looking for a vacuum sealer on the market I would do some research to determine the following: 1) What are the 6-7 cheapest models available? 2) which of them seem to be of the highest quality and buy them. I then spent the money to get the best (rolled or pre-cut) bags I could. It is the packaging that decides whether your products are tasty after 6 months in the freezer.
