I received this Blu-ray drive in December 2020 and installed it on my computer without any problems. The very first Blu-ray disc I tried to play (brand new disc, straight out of the box) would not play due to all the limitations they imposed on the latest firmware that came with the drive. You MUST downgrade to play most Blu-ray movies. The Blu-ray drive I received was packaged in a very plain box with no markings to indicate it was 'LG'. There were no documents, installation instructions. Nothing. Very strange and suspicious but it looks like these LG Blu-ray drives are manufactured directly by LG and are intended for bulk sale and not necessarily for aftermarket customers. Drive purchased in December 2020 showed it was built in September 2020. with firmware 1.05 and contained the NS50 chip needed to downgrade the firmware. Note that the firmware it contains is encrypted and you need to use MakeMKV to encrypt and download the downgraded firmware to disk. I was able to downgrade the firmware to version 1.02MK WH16NS60 using the steps outlined on Youtube (if your drive comes with 1.05, be sure to use the encrypted option) and from MakeMKV. After following the steps and updating to firmware 1.02MK, I can now play any Blu-ray disc, including a Blu-ray disc that didn't work with the original 1.05 firmware.
