Review on MSI I5 10300H Processor Graphics SkyCare by Ben Rodriguez

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not the best laptop for the price, also has seller issues

First of all, the seller and the whole buying process was pretty bad. This is marked as including 1650ti, having used nvidia spector and nvidia geforce, dxdiag and cpu-z I can confirm I only received 1650. I spoke to amazon who gave me the ad credit and also informed the seller for good reason. . So be careful and make sure you get what you paid for! The laptop itself leaves a lot to be desired for its $800 price tag, and while I only use it for leisurely day-to-day computing, I can't see myself using it with a decent frame. Speed and quality with all current generation games as mentioned by others. My everyday desktop computer is a Ryzen 9 3900x and 2080ti, so it's used as a regular mobile laptop for watching movies and such, so its gaming performance isn't a priority for me. I ordered some essential RAM and upgraded to 24GB and it runs fast enough as expected. I also use more expensive rigs, so I'm very critical of the price. Here are some positives, but given the price, everything has caveats: 1. Relatively solid build quality for everyday use given the price. However, the back panel is cheaply made and can be removed somewhat awkwardly to install RAM or upgrade the SSD. Display with high refresh rate and resolution (brightness issues will be discussed later)3. Decent speed with discrete NVME graphics, but requires a RAM upgrade to at least 16GB4. Can upgrade and add 2.5 inch SSD, new NVME, more RAM (with some limitations)5. Decent value if you ignore these warnings and don't mind. Cons: 1. Low RAM, GPU for Intel graphics and NVIDIA graphics need to use RAM for shared storage from time to time when actively gaming +2. The only back panel is difficult to remove to upgrade the RAM, you have to use a fastening tool to safely remove it, which in my experience can break the plastic clips, it's also annoyingly difficult to get back on. It's not that hard for them to add separate panels above the NVME slots and RAM slots, which are the two most common things to replace.3. NVME ssd is a Kioxia brand and not a famous brand but that's ok considering they had to save money, it lacks a bit of bandwidth but it can be upgraded to say say 970evo which is one about 30-40% better overall performance. . The display seems to be on the low end of brightness and colors can appear a bit washed out, the resolution and refresh rate are excellent, but this is clearly a cheaper panel.5. Windows 10 Home instead of Pro, it's a nitpick but IT work, many management features are missing in Win10 Home instead of Pro, it's a $99 upgrade if you don't use other sources to update your key. All in all I'd say if I had to do this over and over again maybe save your money and move to the more expensive market if you really want a real 'gaming' laptop. This design and specs generally leaves a lot to be desired, the CPU is high clocked but has no cores, nvme isn't the best and lacks RAM, you still need to upgrade with an SSD which costs around $1 . to this moment. Also, you don't have to keep opening the back of this thing as it definitely looks like the back panel is about to crack. We warn the user, review your order and carefully plan your purchase with this device.
