The way I use this device is what counts in my rating. In my case I have a cabin with internet that sometimes goes down a few times a week. I also have a honeywell wireless thermostat in the cab. In order to control the temperature in my cabin, my internet must be on. However, due to storms and other conditions and poor ISP service, the modem stays disconnected when it goes down until I get into the cockpit and reboot. This is a big problem for those of us who heat our cabins in the winter. If the modem fails, we don't know the temperature, which can lead to severe freezes and burst pipes, which can be costly. So in this application the device is invaluable.
