It's not an uncomfortable thickness, it's great. The heat is excellent, at least in 40 degree weather. I haven't been able to test it in the snow, which is what the original purchase is. I went for a medium size, weighed about 133-142 pounds and was 5ft 5in tall. My partner bought size XL but got L. It was too tight for the size L he usually wears. He is 5'6 and weighs around 170-183. Got an XL and it fits perfectly.
