I hate this intrusive stuff and don't trust it with regular use. Solid copper sweating has proven its worth. I keep a couple of these 1/2" and 3/4" in case something breaks so we don't have to shut off the main source and we can isolate the problem and the rest of the house will still have water by then. as long as the hardware store is open in the morning. I bought two more to use downstream of the valve on the outdoor sink. I needed an open plug to blow out water in the winter, but wanted something to support the valve in case it banged. They are more convenient because they can be removed rather than removed and plugged or put pipe grease on the line with a plug and fitting. I opened the valve to check and they held, but they weren't the main thing holding back 75psi.
