I bought a 3 gallon unit for my betta and 3 cory catfish. The heating was a small machine and had to switch off when the temperature was reached. After 3 days I returned home. home from work and all my fish were dead and my thermometer was up (going to 100). I was devastated as this is my granddaughter's aquarium. I have always used Penn-Plax heaters on my large aquariums, but have never found a small one. I found it here and I'm thrilled. I set the temperature the way I want it, love the light that tells me when it's on or off and my new betta and catfish are happy!
