I use a roller as the 'last step' in my cleaning process. After damp cleaning, vacuuming, and proper storage, I occasionally find occasional dust and possibly cat hair here and there when I go to play a record. This works great as a spot cleaner when you queue up a clean record with some dust/hair particles on the surface. I think this is more effective than using an anti-static brush as it removes it in one pass. While this doesn't clean the grooves, I think it's great for preventing dirt from getting into those grooves and getting stuck there. It also prevents excess dirt from building up on the needle. Now cleaning the roller can be tricky but I have found that I need to wash my hands and use my fingers after removing a lot of dust and once they are dry you can repeat as needed. This way I removed about 95% of the dust from the roller.
