After reading some of the reviews here, there is conflicting information as to whether the monitor has built-in speakers. I got the monitor and plugged in a working HDMI cable and was able to connect everything but there was no sound. I called tech support and they gave me the model number: 246E9QDSB. It turned out that this model does not have built-in speakers. I was confused because the manual I found online on the Philips website says on page 13 in the "Comfort" section that the device has two built-in speakers. BUT the speakers are only built into the 246E9QJA. The back of the monitor looks like it has speaker openings/ports but the tech said that's because they use the same shell as the 246E9QJA for the 246E9QDSB but no speakers. Not the end of the world, as there's a handy HDMI audio-out on the back for desktop speakers (which I'd probably use anyway). Just make sure you know what model number you're getting if you have built-in speakers. it's obligatory.
