I live in an apartment building. Recently, a neighbor next door was on vacation when a small water pipe burst under his sink. It flooded for several days, damaging two units below. He had home insurance, but exceeded his policy's maximum coverage. His share of the damage is in the tens of thousands. I decided that there must be a technological solution to this problem. And I found it! Luckily, back in 1999, when this house was built, I had installed extra phone/data wiring, so I had extra pairs of wires running to different parts of the house alongside the wiring in the garage. I also bought additional sensors. I now have a sensor behind my fridge, under my dishwasher, under my kitchen sink and behind my toilet in the same bathroom. I have yet to hook up another bathroom but so far everything is working exactly as promised. Even touching the sensors with sweaty fingers triggers an alarm and closes the valve. Very sensitive. When I mop the floors I have to be careful to stick the sensor on the wall until the floor is dry again. not use this device is perfect.
